Statement on Restrictions to Adoption by Same-Sex Couples in Slovakia

Statement condemning recent legal measures in the Slovak Republic that bar homosexual couples from adoption, arguing that equality before the law and human dignity must not depend on sexual orientation. Kaharagia affirms that children deserve access to the widest possible pool of loving, responsible homes and warns that policies excluding homosexual people from adoption reverse progress on equal treatment. The statement urges Slovak authorities to reconsider the measures and uphold their human-rights obligations.

The Principality of Kaharagia condemns recent legal measures in the Slovak Republic that effectively bar homosexual couples from adopting.

Children need love, stability, and responsible adults. Able parents should not be excluded because of their sexual orientation. Equality before the law and the dignity of every person are basic guarantees.

Being homosexual is not a political position; it is part of who a person is. Acknowledging that homosexual people exist and are normal is not "indoctrination"; it is a simple statement of fact. Policies built on the opposite view do harm.

Many countries have moved forward on equal treatment for homosexual people. Slovakia's step reverses that progress and sets a troubling precedent. We urge the authorities to reconsider, uphold their human-rights obligations, and ensure that every child, especially those without permanent families, can be welcomed into the widest pool of loving homes.
