Your Excellency,
On the occasion of the Independence Day of Jamaica, I have the honour to extend to Your Excellency my warmest greetings and sincere congratulations.
Since 1962 Jamaica has made a mark on the world far out of proportion to its size, in music, in sport and in letters, and has lived its motto, Out of Many, One People, as a matter of practice rather than of slogan. That achievement deserves recognition, and I wish the Jamaican people continued peace and prosperity in the year ahead.
Please accept, Your Excellency, the assurances of my profound respect and highest consideration.
