Your Excellency,
On the occasion of Canada Day, I have the honour to extend to Your Excellency my warmest greetings and sincere congratulations.
Canada’s federation joins many peoples, two official languages and a great span of territory under one constitutional order, and has sustained that settlement with rare steadiness. I wish also to acknowledge the Canadian contribution to international peacekeeping and to the rule of law, and to offer the people of Canada every good fortune in the year ahead.
