Your Grace,
On the occasion of your confirmation as Archbishop of Canterbury, I extend to you my sincere congratulations.
Your confirmation to this ancient office is an important moment for the Church of England and the wider Anglican Communion. As the first woman to hold this position, it also reflects the trust placed in your leadership and the Church’s continuing reflection on its life and ministry in the present day.
Throughout your ministry, you have shown a consistent commitment to pastoral care, public service, and the moral responsibilities of church leadership. Your attention to the place of women within the life and ministry of the Church has been a significant part of that work, and one that will continue to shape its future. These qualities will matter greatly as you take on the responsibilities of this office at a time of change and uncertainty.
I wish you well as you begin your ministry as Archbishop of Canterbury.
