Reconsider travel to Rwanda. The Ebola (Bundibugyo virus disease) outbreak in the neighbouring Democratic Republic of the Congo has been declared a Public Health Emergency of International Concern, and cross-border spread remains a live risk. Rwanda denies entry to foreign nationals who have travelled to or transited the Democratic Republic of the Congo within thirty days of arrival, and additional screening, quarantine, or border measures can be introduced at short notice. Conditions inside Rwanda otherwise remain calm, but the border areas adjoining the Democratic Republic of the Congo should be avoided. Travellers should build flexibility into their plans, confirm that insurance covers medical evacuation, and monitor public health announcements.
