Saint Helena — Exercise Normal Precautions

Saint Helena is an extremely remote but safe British Overseas Territory in the South Atlantic.
Saint Helena is a British Overseas Territory in the South Atlantic Ocean, historically known as the place of Napoleon's exile. Since the opening of the airport in 2017, the island has become more accessible, though flights remain limited and subject to weather-related disruptions due to wind shear conditions. Crime is virtually nonexistent on the island. Medical facilities at the General Hospital in Jamestown are basic; serious medical conditions require air evacuation, which may be delayed by weather or flight availability. The island's terrain is steep and rugged, and travellers should exercise caution when hiking. Comprehensive travel and medical evacuation insurance is strongly recommended.
