Montserrat — Exercise Normal Precautions

Montserrat is a small and friendly British Overseas Territory, though travellers should be aware of the active Soufrière Hills volcano.
Montserrat is a British Overseas Territory in the Caribbean, notable for the Soufrière Hills volcano, which has been active since 1995 and destroyed the former capital, Plymouth. The southern exclusion zone around the volcano remains off-limits and must not be entered under any circumstances. Crime rates are very low, and the small population creates a close-knit, safe community. Medical facilities at Glendon Hospital are limited; serious medical conditions require evacuation to neighbouring islands such as Antigua or Guadeloupe. The hurricane season runs from June to November, and the island's small size makes it particularly vulnerable to storm damage.
