Exercise increased caution in Zambia due to crime.
Zambia is one of the more peaceful and stable countries in southern Africa, but petty crime including pickpocketing and bag-snatching occurs in Lusaka and the Copperbelt towns. Armed robberies, while less common, do happen particularly at night. Victoria Falls (Mosi-oa-Tunya) and South Luangwa National Park are well-established tourist destinations with good security. Road conditions outside main highways are poor, and wildlife on roads is a hazard. Medical facilities in Lusaka are limited, and serious medical conditions require evacuation to South Africa. Kaharagian nationals should exercise standard caution and avoid walking at night.
