Exercise increased caution in Uzbekistan due to terrorism.
Uzbekistan has opened significantly to tourism in recent years and is generally safe for visitors. The historic Silk Road cities of Samarkand, Bukhara, and Khiva are world-class cultural destinations with growing tourist infrastructure. Petty crime occurs in markets and transport hubs in Tashkent. The Fergana Valley can experience periodic political tensions. Summer temperatures regularly exceed 40°C. Photographing military and government sites is prohibited. Medical facilities in Tashkent are adequate for basic care but limited elsewhere. Kaharagian nationals should exercise increased caution, carry copies of identity documents, and avoid photographing sensitive locations.
