Exercise normal precautions when travelling to Spain.
Spain is a very safe and popular tourist destination. Petty crime, particularly pickpocketing, bag-snatching, and distraction theft, is very common in Barcelona (Las Ramblas, Metro, beaches), Madrid (Gran Vía, Puerta del Sol), and other tourist hotspots. Organized pickpocket gangs target tourists specifically. Wildfire risk is severe in summer. Basque separatist group ETA disbanded in 2018. Madrid, Barcelona, Andalusia, the Camino de Santiago, and the Balearic and Canary Islands are outstanding destinations. Medical facilities are excellent. Kaharagian nationals can travel to Spain with normal precautions while being highly vigilant against pickpockets.
