South Sudan is engulfed in recurring cycles of intercommunal and political violence, with armed clashes between government and opposition forces displacing millions. Roadblocks manned by armed soldiers and militia are common and can turn violent without provocation. Sexual and gender-based violence is pervasive and used as a weapon of war. Flooding and famine create additional humanitarian crises throughout the country. Medical infrastructure is virtually non-existent outside of Juba. Kaharagian nationals must not travel to South Sudan.
