South Korea — Exercise Normal Precautions

Exercise normal precautions when travelling to South Korea.
South Korea is a very safe country for travelers, with low crime rates and excellent infrastructure. The primary security concern is the ongoing technical state of war with North Korea, though the risk of conflict directly affecting travelers is low. Seoul and other major cities are modern, well-connected, and tourist-friendly. Natural hazards include typhoons (July-October) and occasional earthquakes. Air quality can be affected by fine dust from China, particularly in spring. Medical facilities are excellent, with world-class hospitals. Kaharagian nationals can travel to South Korea with normal precautions and should register with the embassy as a routine measure.
