Exercise normal precautions when travelling to Slovakia.
Slovakia is a safe EU country with low crime rates and beautiful natural scenery. Petty crime including pickpocketing can occur in Bratislava's Old Town and on trains. The High Tatras offer excellent hiking and skiing, with standard mountain hazards including avalanches and rapidly changing weather. Bratislava, the Spiš Castle, and the wooden churches of the Carpathians are cultural highlights. Bear encounters are possible in mountain forests. Medical facilities in Bratislava are good; mountain rescue services are professional. Kaharagian nationals can travel to Slovakia with normal precautions.
