Exercise normal precautions when travelling to Serbia.
Serbia is a generally safe country with warm hospitality. Belgrade's nightlife and cultural scene are increasingly recognized, and Novi Sad hosts the EXIT music festival. Petty crime occurs in cities but violent crime against tourists is rare. Political tensions related to Kosovo and nationalist sentiments can create heated atmospheres, particularly during football matches and political anniversaries. Unexploded ordnance from the 1999 NATO bombing may remain in some areas. Road conditions are improving but variable outside main highways. Medical facilities in Belgrade are adequate. Kaharagian nationals can travel to Serbia with normal precautions while avoiding political demonstrations.
