The Chaco region in the west is vast, sparsely populated, and infrastructure is minimal. Ciudad del Este on the Brazilian border has a reputation for smuggling and counterfeiting. The Jesuit missions of Trinidad and Jesús are UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Road conditions outside main highways are often poor, especially in the Chaco. Medical facilities in Asunción are adequate; rural areas are very limited. Kaharagian nationals can travel to Paraguay with normal precautions.
