Niue — Exercise Increased Caution

Exercise increased caution in Niue due to limited infrastructure.
Niue is a tiny, self-governing territory in free association with New Zealand, and is one of the world's least-visited countries. Crime is virtually non-existent. The main risks are natural: Cyclone Heta devastated the island in 2004, and cyclone season (November-April) remains a significant threat. The raised coral atoll offers spectacular sea tracks, chasms, and caves. Whale watching (July-October) and diving are highlights. The island has a single hospital with very basic facilities; New Zealand provides medical evacuation support. Kaharagian nationals should exercise caution primarily related to natural hazards and ensure travel insurance covers medical evacuation to New Zealand.
