Niger faces severe security threats from multiple jihadist groups operating in the Tillaberi, Tahoua, and Diffa regions near the borders with Mali, Burkina Faso, and Nigeria. Since the July 2023 military coup, political instability has compounded existing security challenges. Kidnapping of foreign nationals and attacks on military convoys are regular occurrences. The Agadez region and the Air Mountains have seen increased insurgent activity. Medical facilities are among the most limited in the world, with almost no advanced care available. Kaharagian nationals must not travel to Niger.
