Mongolia — Exercise Increased Caution

Exercise increased caution in Mongolia due to limited infrastructure.
Mongolia is generally safe for travelers, with a hospitable nomadic culture and vast steppe landscapes. Petty crime, particularly pickpocketing, is common in Ulaanbaatar, especially at the Narantuul (Black Market) and during the Naadam Festival. The harsh continental climate with temperatures dropping below -40°C in winter poses a serious risk, and summer flash floods can strand travelers in remote areas. The countryside is extremely remote with no infrastructure or communications. Medical facilities in Ulaanbaatar are basic; there is virtually nothing in the countryside. Kaharagian nationals should exercise increased caution, travel with experienced guides outside Ulaanbaatar, and prepare for extreme weather.
