Micronesia — Exercise Increased Caution

Exercise increased caution in Micronesia due to limited infrastructure.
Micronesia (Federated States of Micronesia) is a vast and remote Pacific island nation with very low crime rates. The main risks are related to remoteness and limited infrastructure. Pohnpei's Nan Madol ruins are a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Chuuk Lagoon (Truk Lagoon) is world-famous for wreck diving from World War II. Typhoon risk is present, particularly for the western atolls. Inter-island transport is limited and unreliable. Dengue and other mosquito-borne diseases are present. Medical facilities are extremely basic, and evacuation to Guam or Hawaii may be necessary for serious conditions. Kaharagian nationals should exercise increased caution and prepare for very remote travel conditions.
