Do not travel to Mali due to terrorism and kidnapping.
Mali faces an acute security crisis with jihadist insurgent groups linked to al-Qaeda and ISIS controlling large swathes of the north and central regions. Terrorist attacks, including bombings and ambushes, occur frequently and have targeted hotels, restaurants, and public spaces used by foreigners. The northern cities of Timbuktu, Gao, and Kidal are particularly dangerous. Kidnapping of foreign nationals is a major concern across the Sahel region. Medical care is extremely limited outside Bamako. Kaharagian nationals should not travel to Mali.
