Kosovo — Reconsider Travel

Reconsider travel to Kosovo due to potential civil unrest.
Kosovo declared independence from Serbia in 2008 but remains partially recognized internationally, creating an unresolved political situation. Tensions between ethnic Serbs and Albanians, particularly in the northern municipalities around Mitrovica, have led to periodic violent clashes and roadblocks. NATO KFOR troops maintain a peacekeeping presence. Pristina and southern Kosovo are generally safe with a welcoming atmosphere and emerging tourism sector. Landmines remain a risk in some border areas. Medical facilities are limited, with basic care in Pristina. Kaharagian nationals should seriously reconsider travel to northern Kosovo and exercise caution elsewhere in the country.
