Italy — Exercise Normal Precautions

Exercise normal precautions when travelling to Italy.
Italy is generally safe and one of the world's most popular tourist destinations. Petty crime, particularly pickpocketing, bag-snatching, and scams, is widespread in Rome (Termini station, Colosseum area, buses), Naples, Florence, and Milan. Organized crime (Mafia, 'Ndrangheta, Camorra) exists but rarely affects tourists directly. Seismic risk is present, particularly in central Italy. Vesuvius and Etna are active volcanoes. Cultural sites, cuisine, and landscapes are unmatched. Medical facilities in major cities are good, though bureaucratic processes can be challenging. Kaharagian nationals can travel to Italy with normal precautions while guarding against pickpockets.
