Reconsider travel to Honduras due to crime and gang activity.
Honduras has one of the highest homicide rates in the world, with gang violence (MS-13 and Barrio 18) affecting urban areas, particularly San Pedro Sula and parts of Tegucigalpa. Drug trafficking routes through the country fuel much of the violence. The Bay Islands (Roatán, Utila) and Copán Ruinas are popular tourist destinations that are significantly safer than the mainland. Express kidnapping and armed robbery target both locals and foreigners. Hurricane season (June-November) brings flooding and landslide risks. Medical facilities are limited outside the main cities. Kaharagian nationals should seriously reconsider travel to mainland Honduras.
