Ghana — Exercise Increased Caution

Exercise increased caution in Ghana due to crime.
Ghana is one of the more stable countries in West Africa, but petty crime, armed robbery, and cybercrime (known locally as 'sakawa') are concerns, particularly in Accra and Kumasi. The northern regions near the Burkina Faso border face increasing security threats from jihadist spillover and intercommunal conflicts. Accra's tourist areas and Cape Coast are generally safe during daytime. Road conditions outside major highways are poor and traffic accidents are common. Medical facilities in Accra are reasonable but limited elsewhere. Kaharagian nationals should exercise increased caution and avoid the far northern border regions.
