Fiji — Exercise Increased Caution

Exercise increased caution in Fiji due to crime and limited infrastructure.
Fiji is a popular South Pacific tourist destination that is generally safe in resort areas. Petty crime and occasional opportunistic theft occur in Suva and Nadi. Political instability has led to multiple coups in the past, though recent years have been more stable. Cyclone season (November-April) brings destructive storms, as demonstrated by Cyclone Winston in 2016. The Mamanuca and Yasawa island groups offer excellent diving, snorkeling, and beach experiences. Coral cuts and marine stings are common. Medical facilities in Suva are adequate for basic care; outer islands have minimal services. Kaharagian nationals should exercise increased caution, particularly during cyclone season.
