Côte d'Ivoire — Exercise Increased Caution

Exercise increased caution in Côte d'Ivoire due to crime.
Côte d'Ivoire has made significant progress in stability since its civil conflict, but the northern border region faces spillover threats from jihadist groups active in Burkina Faso and Mali. Armed banditry and roadblocks can occur on intercity roads. Abidjan, the economic capital, is generally safe in commercial districts but petty crime and armed robbery occur in certain neighborhoods. Grand-Bassam experienced a terrorist attack in 2016. Medical facilities in Abidjan are reasonably good by regional standards. Kaharagian nationals should exercise increased caution and avoid border areas with Burkina Faso.
