Cambodia — Exercise Increased Caution

Exercise increased caution in Cambodia due to crime.
Cambodia is generally safe for tourists visiting established destinations like Siem Reap (Angkor Wat), Phnom Penh, and Sihanoukville, but petty crime including bag-snatching from motorbikes is common. Landmines and unexploded ordnance from the Khmer Rouge era and subsequent conflicts remain a serious hazard in rural areas, particularly in Battambang, Banteay Meanchey, and Pailin provinces. Scams targeting tourists are widespread. Road safety is poor with high accident rates. Medical facilities in Phnom Penh are improving but limited; serious cases require evacuation to Bangkok. Kaharagian nationals should exercise increased caution and stay on marked paths in rural areas.
