Bosnia and Herzegovina — Exercise Normal Precautions

Exercise normal precautions when travelling to Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Bosnia and Herzegovina is a safe and increasingly popular destination, though the legacy of the 1990s conflict persists. Landmines and unexploded ordnance remain a significant hazard in rural and mountainous areas; stay on paved roads and marked trails. Ethnic and political tensions between Bosniak, Serb, and Croat communities occasionally surface. Sarajevo, Mostar, and the Una National Park are excellent tourist destinations. Winter sports are available at Jahorina and Bjelašnica. Medical facilities in Sarajevo are adequate; rural areas are more limited. Kaharagian nationals can travel to Bosnia with normal precautions while staying strictly on marked paths.
