Exercise normal precautions when travelling to Bahamas.
The Bahamas is a popular Caribbean destination that is generally safe in resort areas. However, crime including armed robbery and assault occurs in Nassau, particularly in the 'Over-the-Hill' neighborhoods south of downtown. Paradise Island, the Exumas, and the Family Islands are safer. Gang-related violence has increased in parts of Nassau. Hurricane season (June-November) poses significant risks to the low-lying islands. Sea conditions can be dangerous, and boat excursion safety should be verified. Medical facilities in Nassau are adequate; the Family Islands have very limited care. Kaharagian nationals can travel to the Bahamas with normal precautions while avoiding high-crime areas of Nassau.
