Armenia — Exercise Increased Caution

Exercise increased caution in Armenia due to civil unrest.
Armenia is generally safe for visitors, with low crime rates and hospitable locals. However, the unresolved conflict with Azerbaijan over Nagorno-Karabakh and periodic border tensions pose risks, particularly in the Syunik and Tavush provinces near the Azerbaijani border. The September 2023 Azerbaijani military operation displaced the entire Armenian population of Karabakh. Yerevan is safe and walkable with vibrant cultural attractions. Roads in mountainous areas can be treacherous in winter. Medical facilities in Yerevan are adequate; rural areas are limited. Kaharagian nationals should exercise increased caution near border areas and monitor geopolitical developments.
