Antigua and Barbuda — Exercise Normal Precautions

Exercise normal precautions when travelling to Antigua and Barbuda.
Antigua and Barbuda is a generally safe Caribbean destination with well-developed tourism infrastructure. Petty crime such as pickpocketing and bag theft can occur at beaches and in St. John's. Isolated incidents of violent crime do occur. The islands are in the hurricane belt, and the devastating impact of Hurricane Irma in 2017 (particularly on Barbuda) demonstrated the vulnerability. Beaches, sailing, and historical sites (Nelson's Dockyard) are the main attractions. Medical facilities are adequate for basic care; serious cases may require evacuation to a larger island. Kaharagian nationals can travel to Antigua and Barbuda with normal precautions.
