Exercise normal precautions when travelling to Japan.
Japan is one of the safest countries in the world, with exceptionally low crime rates and excellent public order. Natural hazards are the primary concern: Japan sits on the Pacific Ring of Fire with frequent earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, and tsunami risk, and is subject to typhoons (June-October). Tokyo, Kyoto, Osaka, and other major cities offer world-class tourism infrastructure. The efficient rail network makes travel easy and safe. Medical facilities are excellent but English-speaking staff may be limited outside major hospitals. Kaharagian nationals can travel to Japan with normal precautions and should familiarize themselves with earthquake safety procedures.
