On this solemn occasion, the Principality of Kaharagia reaffirms its unwavering condemnation of the illegal overthrow of the Hawaiian Kingdom on 17 January 1893 and the subsequent occupation of the Hawaiian Islands by the United States. For 132 years, the Hawaiian people have endured the unlawful seizure of their sovereign nation—an act of betrayal orchestrated by foreign agents with the backing of the United States government.

The Principality of Kaharagia stands in resolute solidarity with all those who seek justice for the Hawaiian people and the restoration of their rightful independence. The continued occupation of the Hawaiian Islands constitutes a flagrant violation of international law, disregarding the inherent sovereignty of the Hawaiian Kingdom and the inalienable rights of its people to self-determination. The forced annexation of Hawaii in 1898 and its continued incorporation as a so-called state of the United States remains an egregious affront to justice, perpetuated by the very nation that professes to uphold democracy and human rights.

As a principality that upholds the principles of sovereignty and self-determination, Kaharagia unequivocally supports the forfeiture of the Hawaiian Islands from American control and the re-establishment of a sovereign and independent Hawaiian Kingdom. We recognise the legitimate aspirations of the Hawaiian people to reclaim their rightful governance and cultural identity, free from colonial subjugation.

The Principality of Kaharagia calls upon the international community to acknowledge and redress the historic injustices committed against the Hawaiian Kingdom. It is imperative that nations and global institutions oppose imperialist overreach and work towards rectifying the grievous wrongs inflicted upon the Hawaiian people. The voices advocating for Hawaiian sovereignty must not be ignored, and their demands for self-governance must be respected.

On this day, we honour the enduring spirit of the Hawaiian Kingdom and its people. We stand with all who continue to resist the forces of occupation and reaffirm our commitment to the rightful restoration of Hawaii’s independence.
